Connecting a custom domain to your directory
Point your own domain at your Local Directory AI site so visitors see your URL.
·
What you need
- A domain name registered with any registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.)
- Access to your domain's DNS settings
Step 1 — Enter your domain in the dashboard
- Go to Settings → Domain.
- Enter your domain (e.g.
yourdirectory.com) and click Add domain. - The dashboard shows the DNS record you need to create.
Step 2 — Create the DNS record
Log in to your domain registrar and create a CNAME record:
- Host / Name:
@or your subdomain (e.g.www) - Value / Points to: the hostname shown in your dashboard
- TTL: 3600 (1 hour) or lower
Note: If you're using Cloudflare, set the DNS record to DNS Only (grey cloud), not Proxied. Proxied records cause SSL verification to fail.
Step 3 — Verify
DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate, but usually complete within 30 minutes. Return to Settings → Domain and click Verify. Once verified, your SSL certificate is issued automatically.
