Changing your directory name, slug, and timezone

Update your directory's core identity settings in the General settings panel.

·

Where are these settings?

Go to Settings → General in the sidebar.

Directory name

The name appears in your site's header, browser tab title, and email notifications. It doesn't affect your URL or slug — you can change it at any time without SEO impact.

Slug / subdomain

Your slug is the identifier used in your default Local Directory AI URL (e.g. yourdirectory.localdirectory.ai). If you're using a custom domain, changing the slug only affects the default URL — your custom domain is unaffected.

Caution: Changing the slug breaks any links to your old default URL. If you've shared your default URL publicly, add a redirect from the old URL before changing the slug.

Timezone

The timezone affects how dates and times are displayed in your admin dashboard (submission dates, visit timestamps, etc.). It does not affect the public-facing site. Set it to the timezone where most of your team is based.

Saving changes

Click Save settings after making changes. Directory name and timezone changes take effect immediately. Slug changes require a cache purge, which happens automatically.
